CODE OF ETHICS & CONDUCT
Respect for the Art.
Respect for Each Other.
Raksanna celebrates dance as an art form deserving of care, preparation and respect. These expectations guide dancers representing Raksanna, Near East Dance Ensemble and Desert Flames in rehearsals, performances and related events.
Arrive knowing your choreography, music, formations and cues. Practice consistently, ask for guidance when needed and work toward confident, expressive performance. If something goes wrong on stage, recover calmly and support the dancers around you.
Treat dancers, instructors, crew, hosts and audiences with courtesy. Offer feedback constructively and avoid belittling remarks, gossip or comparisons. Respectful questions and good-faith concerns are welcome; supporting the group does not mean staying silent about a problem.
Follow the call time, rehearsal schedule and event instructions. Plan your travel and preparation so you are ready when needed. Let Raksanna or the designated event lead know promptly if you are delayed or unable to attend.
Confirm music delivery and playback requirements before the event. Bring a tested backup in the format requested, along with required costumes, props and accessories. Check any equipment you are responsible for before the performance.
Keep dressing rooms and backstage areas orderly, and keep conversation quiet near the stage. Change in designated private spaces. Follow event instructions for costumes and cover-ups before and after performing.
Wear the agreed costume, footwear, makeup and accessories, suited to the choreography and venue. Costumes should fit securely and allow you to move comfortably. Performance standards focus on preparation, technique and presentation—not body size or shape.
Follow venue smoking and vaping rules, and avoid exposing others to smoke or strong fragrances in shared spaces. Tell the event lead about practical needs that affect safe participation so arrangements can be discussed.
Backstage and dressing-room access is reserved for performers, crew and people approved by the event lead. Arrange guest access or support needs in advance so privacy, space and event requirements are respected.
Include the audience without singling anyone out in a way that makes them uncomfortable. Respect personal space and consent. Follow the agreed format for participation, photographs and meet-and-greets, with clear professional boundaries.
Confirm with Raksanna or the event lead whether tips are appropriate and how they should be offered. Use the agreed method and respect each dancer’s personal boundaries.
Follow the agreed plan for bows, photographs, audience interaction and departure. Share only approved promotional materials when representing Raksanna. Collect your belongings and leave shared spaces tidy.
Bring expression, generosity and humility to your work. Celebrate progress, recognize others’ contributions and stay open to learning. Professionalism and joy belong together.
Speak with Raksanna or the designated event lead about performance expectations, practical needs or concerns.
